“To make a significant impact on varying degrees in the spiritual, emotional and/or psychological health of everyone I come in contact with.”
You have reached the website of the "The Soul Doctor." No, I'm not a blues/rap artist or DJ. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in the State of Texas. My name is Roger L. Johnson. My office is in Plano, Texas. I have clients both locally and from a variety of states.
I am affiliated with the Clements Clinic. The Clements Clinic is a full-service therapeutic and psychiatric facility specializing in treating the whole person. A very unique feature about this facility is that they have the ability to perform SPECT brain imaging. They can actually watch the brain at work. I fully support this effort and use its results effectively in the development of treatment plans for those clients I have in therapy who have this procedure done. I have seen excellent results.
I specialize in a variety of disorders. My goal as a therapist is to alleviate discomfort and improve your ability to function in the environment you find yourself, whether that is in your home or the workplace or in family or career relationships. The "About Roger" page will outline my areas of specialty more specifically.
I love what I do. I enjoy therapy more than anything I have ever done. I enjoy the privilege of being along for the journey that many of my clients take as they look inside themselves, become what they never knew they could be, and live a life they never thought possible. I certainly am a professional and I understand the ethical and moral obligations in the therapeutic relationship, but nothing would happen without the courage and perseverance of clients who are willing to change. It's all about them.
In addition to counseling, I am an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University at their Frisco Campus in Frisco, Texas. I teach in the Master of Arts in Counseling program. I enjoy giving back to the profession and helping those who aspire to be therapists in their own right.
I am a therapist who practices from a conservatively orthodox Christian point of view. Ethically I am bound and willingly I practice respect and tolerance for the client's point of view concerning spirituality. Please visit the "FAQ" and "Statement of Faith" pages to learn more about my philosophy of life, if this interests you.
I have been married for 32 years and have one teenage son and an adult daughter.
