Human Sexuality
Human sexuality is one of the areas I specialize in. Within that broad context I deal with sexual addiction, and compulsivity, sexual dysfunction, and the resolving of sexual trauma. Unfortunately we live in a sinful world. Human beings carry out unprovoked acts of violence on one another at all ages. Sexual abuse is far more prevalent than any of us realize. General assessments usually tell us that one in three females and one in five males have experienced sexual trauma by the time they are age 18. These figures may be low for males due to the cultural stance toward male same-sex sexual activity.
Sexual addiction is one of my major areas of focus. This may be one of those behaviors used to deal with trauma and abuse. Patrick Carnes states that 87% of sexually addicted people have been verbally, emotionally, physically or sexually abused. You may be one of those.

Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation
In addition to formal counseling and psychotherapy, I will be offering cranial electrotherapy stimulation as an adjunct to in-session therapy. I will be using the Alpha-Stim CSC. The unit stimulates nerve cells at the brain stem which stimulates the production of serotonin and acetylcholine. This in turn changes the electrical and chemical activity of certain brain cells in the brain stem and helps to create balance or an evening-out process. The treatment with Alpha-Stim CSC is indicated for Anxiety, Depression and Insomnia. Please visit the website to educate yourself more about the product.
Webcam Counseling
For those of you who find yourself in locales that are inaccessible to normal avenues of mental health services, I do offer webcam counseling via the Internet. You will have to have access to a computer and a webcam camera. I usually use an Internet website entitled "Skype." If this is something that you are interested in please contact me and I can discuss the parameters and options of this invaluable service. This service is provided with recognition of and within the bounds of the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics Section A.12. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
In addition to individual therapy I am a co-facilitator in an ongoing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Group. Dialectical behavioral Therapy is indicated for persons suffering from Borderline personality traits but can be applicable to a number of disorders. This is, "the application of a broad array of cognitive and behavior therapy strategies to the problems of BPD... As its name suggests, its overriding characteristic is an emphasis on "dialectics"-that is, the reconciliation of opposites in a continual process of synthesis. The most fundamental dialectic is the necessity of accepting patients just as they are within a context of trying to teach them to change." (Linehan, Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder, p. 19). Supervision
I also offer LPC Supervision. Supervision is reserved for those persons seeking LPC licensure in the state of Texas, have successfully passed the LPC and Texas jurisprudence exams and have a temporary Texas LPC license. Please check with me for beginning dates for this service
